What I liked about this talk was the concept, sort of alluded to but not made too explicit, that most people's concept of holiness is that it is the absence of sin.
This is a hugely incomplete view of holiness - you can cut all the sin out of your life and not be holy.
Holiness is a positive thing. It's about being transformed by the indwelling spirit of God.
Yes, we put off the old sinful life, but that's in order to put on the new life.
I guess that's why I had a bit of a hard time with the previous week's sermon, about truth. In fact, the main focus was about not lying. Truth is more than just the absence of lying.
