Jamie G

Thanks for the pointers to these thoughtful articles. I've just given them a quick scan, and want to offer a couple of quick thoughts (though to do this subject justice would require a modestly thick book).

1. There's no getting away from the fact that Jesus' ministry contained a strong core activity of healing the sick. From what I understood of his commission, this should form part of our mission.

2. The fact that I haven't seen much healing happening in churches I've belonged to doesn't automatically suggest that Jesus got it wrong.

3. We should beware trying to construct a solid theology and being able to understand God before we obey and act...

4. This all sounds a bit dangerous, doesn't it? Perhaps God wants us to move outside our comfort zone and shed our respectability? Perhaps we should each dare to come to him and ask, 'what would you like me to do?'

5. We can't put God in a box; we can't control him; we can't make things happen. How exciting and liberating!
