Mark

Richard that was a very powerful sermon yesterday morning! What struck me was how important it is to thank God for our children - despite the tantrums, the tears, the 'I hate you Daddy' - in the midst of those times that it is so hard to be patient, to give thanks to God for them. (He loves us so much even when we do it to Him!)

One other thing that was reinforced to me, is that even though I am not well, I can still praise God and give Him thanks (not necesarily for the illness!) In all situations, even when I don't feel like it, to give Him thanks. I find that more often than not, when I am feeling low or having a bad day, I need to almost flee the 'worm theology' (I'm so bad, unworthy, etc..) and praise Him. At those times, I tend to listen to high praise and even some old hymns on my iPod. It draws me closer to Him as I praise and thank Him and He is the centre of my thinking then, not ME! As David Pao's quote so succinctly puts it "Thanksgiving is God-centredness!"
