You know, I think Peterson's got it right. That's a foundational truth. You could go away with an armful of self-help books or how to be spiritual in your daily life books and read them all, and then brush up your theology until it's technically flawless. But unless we capture the truth that Peterson expresses so well, our best efforts and our smartest thoughts won't help us at all. Our efforts will always fail, and then we'll be left feeling disillusioned and guilty, clutching our broken and powerless religion, all because we never really understood the good news of Jesus at all.
