Don't forget Darfur

Chd1d141 From Tearfund:

Four years after conflict in Darfur intensified and started making the headlines - and the emergency continues. Security has deteriorated throughout the region and the forthcoming hungry season will force even more people into desperate need.

Tearfund has been working in Darfur and neighbouring Chad since 2004, providing food for malnourished children, water, sanitation, seeds and tools and children's health clubs.

This is a long-term and complex disaster. With your help, we'll be able to stand with the people of Darfur, Chad and the rest of Sudan.

It's fearful how quickly areas and issues can fall off our agenda - all part, I guess, of the 24-hour news saturation that makes responding to the disasters of our world peculiarly hard. I wrote something about this sometime ago - the "L.I.A.R." effect.... highly relevant here.

  • You can read morea about the crisis and the Tearfund response online.
  • The British Red Cross also have information online.

I've converted the Tearfund Powerpoint presentation into an online one - click the image below to go to the next slide and read about what's happening and what we can do...
